The magic of coffee beans: from beans to aroma

Coffee is an addictive drink. It has a unique aroma and taste that can refresh the mind, make people feel happy and relaxed. All of this is inseparable from the magic of coffee beans.

Starting from small coffee beans

Coffee beans are seeds that come from the fruit of the coffee tree. When these fruits are ripe, farmers pick them and remove the pulp, leaving the tiny coffee bean inside.

These newly picked coffee beans are still in the green state and have not yet shown their true rich and diverse flavor characteristics. In order to achieve the best quality, they need to be carefully roasted during the processing.

Baking: Unleashing the Aroma

Before roasting, farmers will first dry the beans to remove moisture and clean any impurities. Then comes the most critical and challenging step: roasting.

Roasting is heating coffee beans to a specific temperature to cause chemical changes inside them, thus releasing rich aroma and flavor. Different degrees of roasting will bring different tastes and flavors of coffee.

Strong black coffee: dark roast

Dark roasting is a method of heating coffee beans to a higher temperature and for a longer time, which makes the beans darker, more oily, and produces a rich and bitter taste.

Due to the long treatment time at high temperature, dark roasting can cause the beans to lose some of their original flavor characteristics, but it can add a full, rich flavor with cocoa or chocolate-like aroma and bittersweet taste.

Smooth Latte: Medium or Medium-Heavy

Medium or medium-heavy roasts are usually used to make milky coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos. This roasting degree will make the color of the coffee beans darker, but not as shiny as dark roasts.

Medium roasting can retain more original flavor characteristics, while also giving the coffee a certain acidity and freshness. This degree of roasting can make milk foam drinks such as latte smoother and more balanced, with some fruity or nutty aromas.

Fresh floral scent: light or medium light

Light or medium-light roasting is usually used to make single-origin coffee such as drip coffee and hand-pour coffee. At this level, the beans are brighter in color and have no oily sheen.

Compared with the other two levels, light to medium-light roasting can retain the original flavor characteristics to the greatest extent, and highlight its complex and fresh floral and fruity taste. Every bite seems to be enjoying the beauty and surprise brought by nature.

Conclusion

From the smallest bean, coffee beans are carefully roasted to reveal a rich variety of aromas and flavors. Dark roasting produces a rich black coffee, medium or medium-dark roasting makes a smooth latte, and light or medium-light roasting gives a fresh floral aroma.

No matter what degree of roasting, every coffee bean contains infinite magic. They bring us into a world full of temptation and beauty, where we can enjoy the pleasure and relaxation brought by coffee.
