"Boss, give me a cup of mocha." Have you ever heard such a sound in a coffee shop? So, what is Mocha coffee? Today I will introduce Mocha coffee to you. The Story of the Moka PotSome people have a moka pot at home, either in regular use or hidden in a cupboard. In many ways, I struggle to describe its popularity, because the moka pot is not a very friendly coffee brewing device, and it is not easy to make a good moka coffee. Moka pots often brew very strong and bitter coffee, but this is acceptable to Italians, after all, they often drink espresso, and almost every household has a moka pot. Stovetop Moka Coffee Maker The patent for the Moka pot belongs to the inventor Alfonso Bialetti in 1933, and the Moka pots produced by Bialetti are still very popular today. Most Moka pots are made of aluminum (there were many rumors about aluminum products in the past few years), although many people like to buy a stainless steel one. Stainless steel moka pot The following method of brewing coffee with a moka pot may be different from the method used by most people, but this method will be very useful for those who are already very satisfied with the moka coffee they brew. One thing that is not acceptable about the moka pot is that it will brew coffee at a very high temperature, so it will brew very bitter coffee. Maybe some people especially like this bitter taste, but some people just hate the moka pot because of this. The following method will make you love the coffee brewed by the moka pot from another angle. However, because the ratio of water to powder in Moka pot coffee is relatively high, and the brewing time is relatively short, it is still difficult to brew lightly roasted, dense, or particularly acidic and fruity coffee beans. It is recommended to use coffee beans that are lighter roasted or slightly lower in altitude for Italian coffee. I would avoid using darker roasted coffee beans, after all, Moka pots are easy to brew bitterness. Moka pot brewing coffeeWater to powder ratio: 200g/L. In most cases, you can't really control the water to powder ratio. You can only fill the filter with coffee powder and then pour water into the base before the water level of the pressure relief valve. In fact, you don't have much room to change the brewing quality. Grind size: finer grind/salt-like grind. I don't recommend using the grind size of espresso, which is controversial for many people. I like it a little coarser, hoping to reduce the bitterness in the mocha as much as possible. 1. Grind the coffee beans before brewing. Put the grounds into the container and smooth them out without pressing. 2. Boil 1 pot of fresh drinking water suitable for brewing coffee and low in minerals. The advantage of using hot water is that the moka pot spends less time on the stove, and the coffee powder will not be boiled for a long time, reducing the bitterness of the coffee. 3. Pour hot water into the base of the Moka Pot until the water level reaches the bottom of the pressure relief valve. Never let the water exceed the pressure relief valve, which is a safety device. 4. Put the container filled with coffee powder in place, first make sure the area around the round rubber pad is clean, then carefully assemble the entire moka pot. If it is not completely assembled, brewing cannot be carried out. 5. Put the moka pot on the stove, turn on the fire but don't let it exceed the base of the pot, and keep the lid open. When the water in the base starts to boil, the pressure generated by the steam will push the hot water from the hollow tube in the middle to the coffee powder layer. The greater the fire, the greater the pressure, and the faster the brewing will be completed, but it should not be too fast. 6. In the moka pot, you can see the coffee brewing slowly. Listen carefully. When you hear a gurgling sound, turn off the fire and stop brewing. Hearing the gurgling sound means that all the water has been brewed, and there is steam passing through the coffee powder layer, which will produce more bitterness. 7. If you want to continue brewing mocha coffee, cool the base of the mocha pot with water. The water vapor will condense and the internal pressure will disappear. 8.You can start enjoying your coffee. ps: Before disassembling the moka pot for cleaning, make sure it has cooled down. After cleaning, make sure all parts are dry. Do not put all parts together when storing, as this will cause the rubber ring to age faster.
