Have you ever wondered why, even though you buy the exact same beans from a coffee shop and use the same equipment, parameters, and techniques, you still can’t brew the same flavor you drink in the coffee shop?

Do you often feel that the coffee you brew is not delicious enough? Don't rush to change coffee beans or spend money to upgrade coffee equipment. Try the following three tips first, and you can make the coffee you brew every day taste better.

Tip 1: Preheat

A simple "preheating" action can make your brewed coffee more delicious. Items that should be preheated include coffee brewing utensils and coffee cups. If you use an American coffee pot, first pour water without coffee powder, turn on the machine and let it brew empty once; if you use hand brewing, please first heat the filter cup, filter paper and coffee container with hot water. Most importantly, don't forget to preheat your coffee cup. In Italy, the country of coffee, coffee can only be served to customers in preheated coffee cups. Preheated coffee cups can fully display the aroma and taste of coffee.

Tip 2: Pay attention to water quality

More than 98% of a cup of coffee is water. The quality of water has a great impact on the taste and flavor of coffee! If you can't change the coffee beans, but want to improve the quality of coffee, change the water! According to our experience, the hardness and turbidity of tap water in different cities are different, and even in different areas of the same city, the water quality is often different. If the tap water in your area tastes like chlorine, it will be difficult to brew a cup of good quality coffee.

Why not try using water filtered from different water filters to brew coffee? In areas with poor water quality, it is recommended to abandon tap water and use commercially available bottled water to brew coffee. Different water filters and different brands of bottled water have different effects on brewing coffee. You may want to try more and gradually you will find the water that is best for brewing coffee. I guarantee you will be very surprised that different water can make such a big difference in the flavor and taste of the brewed coffee.

Tip 3: Change the cup!

Anyone who has participated in a wine tasting will be surprised that different shapes of wine glasses can have a huge impact on the smell and taste of the wine. In fact, coffee is exactly the same. The material, thickness, and shape of the cup greatly affect the taste and smell of the coffee. Next time, why not try it? Pour the brewed coffee into different cups, and then taste them one by one. You will find that some cups make the coffee taste thinner or thicker, and some cups make the coffee smell disappear or prominent.

If you like a rich and full taste, please do not choose glass cups or thin cups to drink coffee, especially paper cups. It is recommended to choose thick ceramic materials and preheat them before putting coffee in. If you like to taste the aroma of lightly roasted coffee, please avoid using a cup with an overly flared mouth. A cup with a slightly inward mouth can gather the aroma and fully present the rich and lively flavor of the lightly roasted coffee.

If you have tried all three of the above methods and your coffee still doesn’t taste good, it’s time to change your coffee beans!
