How to make a good cup of coffee?

From a small coffee bean to a cup of fragrant coffee, how much manpower and how many processes are involved in the process? Today, let's take a look at the whole process!

1. Planting of coffee trees
Coffee trees are suitable for planting in tropical and subtropical areas, such as Yunnan, Hainan and Taiwan in China. The coffee we drink daily is made from the roasted kernels of coffee beans produced on coffee trees. There are two types of coffee trees in the world: Arabica and Robusta. Different growing environments often give coffee different characteristics. Arabica grows best in high-altitude areas, while Robusta grows best in low-altitude areas. Its main production areas are shown in the figure:
2. Selection of coffee beans
Coffee beans are a kind of berry, which often turns red when ripe. Like wine grapes, the selection of coffee beans is also very important. First, the seeds are removed from the harvested coffee fruits and the coffee beans are processed. This is the "selection" process in the coffee process. After this process, the pulp and inner peel must be removed, which is the so-called "refining" process. After that, the coffee beans are classified by size and the poor quality ones are picked out. This is the so-called "sorting". After that, they are generally dried in the sun or washed, and after a certain degree of fermentation, good beans with a sweet and sour taste and rich taste are obtained. After these processes, the coffee beans will be sealed in bags and sold all over the world.

3. Roasting of coffee beans
After purchasing the coffee beans, the roaster will roast and mix them. This is the most important process!

The roasting time of coffee beans is generally not long, about 8-16 minutes. During the roasting process, the coffee beans will undergo a series of complex chemical changes, and their color and size will be very different from the raw beans, and they will also emit an attractive aroma that they did not originally have. According to the degree of roasting, it is generally divided into light roasting and deep roasting. Light roasting can better reflect the original flavor of the beans, tasting sweet and floral; while deep roasting takes longer, so it tastes bitter and sweet.

4. Grinding of coffee beans
After the coffee beans are roasted, they are ready to drink. At this time, they can be sold directly or further ground.

Generally, coffee beans can be ground in a manual grinder or an electric motor. After being ground into powder, it becomes the common coffee powder we know.

5. Brewing coffee
Water-brewed coffee is to put coffee powder into an extraction vessel and use room temperature water instead of hot water to extract it. The coffee obtained in this way has a mild taste, without strong bitterness and aroma. Of course, you can also do a simple home extraction, add coffee powder and cold water to a coffee cup, and then use a simple extraction device to extract it, so that a cup of fragrant coffee is brewed!

After reading this, do you feel like having a cup of coffee right away? If so, let’s go! Go! Go! Go!
