What is the coffee bean manufacturing process?

Coffee beans are a common beverage ingredient in our daily lives. They go through a series of manufacturing processes to become the coffee we love. The following will focus on the manufacturing process of coffee beans and introduce its detailed steps.

First, the production of coffee beans begins with planting. Under suitable climatic conditions, farmers will select suitable varieties of coffee trees for cultivation. These trees usually need plenty of sunlight and rain, and grow better at high altitudes. When the fruits are ripe, farmers will pick them by hand.

Next comes the peeling stage. After the fruits are picked, farmers use special equipment to peel off the hard and thick outer skin of the fruit. This process is called hulling or peeling.

Then comes the fermentation and washing stage. After shelling, the pulp part called "cherry" is naturally fermented in the fermentation box for several days to extract better taste and aroma characteristics, and the excess substances are removed by washing.

Next comes the drying stage. After fermentation and washing, the coffee beans are spread out on a special drying platform to dry naturally in the sun and air. This process requires patience and wait for several weeks until the coffee beans are completely dry.

The last stage is roasting. Once the coffee beans are completely dry, they will be sent to a professional coffee roasting plant for processing. Under high temperature, the moisture inside the coffee beans will expand and produce chemical reactions, thus forming a unique aroma and flavor. Different degrees of roasting will bring different taste and flavor characteristics.

In summary, planting, shelling, fermentation, washing, drying and finally roasting are key steps in the manufacturing process. Each step has an important impact on the quality of the final product, and close cooperation between farmers and processing plants is required to produce high-quality and delicious coffee beans.
