Is drinking coffee good or bad for your health?

For many office workers today, coffee is a must-have to wake them up in the morning. Drinking coffee after work or at work has become a habit. After drinking coffee, caffeine reaches its peak after 5 minutes and is absorbed by the blood. For a long time, people believe that drinking coffee brings benefits to the body and often becomes dependent on it. So is drinking coffee good or bad?

Drink a few more cups of coffee, maybe it can make you live longer; recently, in a research report published in the international journal JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers from the National Cancer Institute of the United States found that drinking coffee may increase the chance of longevity, even for people who drink at least 8 cups of coffee a day. In general, during the 10-year follow-up survey, coffee drinkers were 10% to 15% less likely to die than non-coffee drinkers, and the differences were smaller with the amount of coffee people consumed and genetic variation. Of course, this study does not prove that your coffee pot is the "fountain of youth", nor is it a reason for non-coffee drinkers to start drinking coffee. This study may consolidate the findings of previous researchers and add additional health guarantees for coffee drinkers.

Coffee seems to work wonders for teamwork by making people more alert. Increased alertness often has positive results for team performance, and it goes without saying that regular coffee drinkers tend to be more alert. While many studies have focused on how caffeine affects individual performance, this study is the first to shed light on the effects of caffeine on teamwork.

But just two years ago, there was a piece of news that also mentioned some of the disadvantages of coffee.

Two years ago, the World Health Organization's cancer agency excluded coffee from its list of "possible carcinogens," even though there was insufficient evidence to rule out a link between coffee and cancer. However, the focus of the current discussion is not coffee itself, but a compound called acrylamide, which is produced when coffee beans are roasted. Based on evidence from animal experiments, government agencies believe it may be a carcinogen, so in 1986 many voters in California voted to require coffee sellers to issue such a warning.

However, drinking coffee has both advantages and disadvantages. Drinking coffee will improve our work efficiency and make the brain excited, but in the long run, it will also make people dependent on coffee. In addition, there are carcinogens in coffee, so we should try to reduce the use of coffee. Maintaining a good sleep is the right way to stay healthy.
