Coffee data: From cultivation to tasting, the secrets of coffee are fully revealed

The origin of coffee

Coffee is a plant that originated in Africa and is said to have been first discovered in Ethiopia. According to legend, a shepherd noticed that his sheep became unusually active after eating a kind of red berry. So he tried boiling the berries and drinking the liquid they produced. This is the story of the birth of coffee.

Coffee cultivation and harvesting

Coffee trees usually grow at high altitudes, such as mountains and hills. They need plenty of sunlight and moderately humid climatic conditions to thrive. Farmers will regularly prune branches to maintain the tree's shape and apply fertilizers to provide nutrients.

When the coffee cherries are ripe, farmers hand-pick each one and separate them into two main varieties: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica beans are generally considered higher quality and better tasting, while Robusta beans have a stronger and bitter flavor.

Coffee processing and roasting

After being picked, coffee cherries go through a series of processing steps before they become the coffee beans we know as coffee. First, the pulp is removed, leaving the coffee beans inside. Then, the beans are washed, fermented, and dried.

Next comes the roasting process. Roasting is the process of heating the green beans to high temperatures to change their color, taste and aroma. Different degrees of roasting will produce coffee with different flavor characteristics.

Coffee tasting and brewing methods

Tasting a good cup of coffee requires certain skills and experience. Professional tasters usually evaluate factors such as color, aroma, taste and aftertaste to determine whether a cup of coffee is high quality.

There are many ways to brew a delicious cup of coffee at home: drip method, French press, espresso, etc. Each brewing method has its own characteristics, and you can choose the method that suits your taste according to your personal taste.

Coffee culture and social interaction

Coffee has important cultural and social significance around the world. Whether it is gathering with friends in a cafe or enjoying a cup alone at home, coffee has become an indispensable part of people's lives.

In addition, many countries have their own unique coffee culture. For example, in Italy, people like to use espresso to make various classic drinks such as cappuccino and espresso black coffee; while Turkey is famous for its special brewing method and added spices.
