SANYO FLOWER DRIPPER Review

Recently, Japan's Sanyo company (SANYO) launched a new ceramic filter cup, which is very beautiful and comes in 5 colors: yellow, white, blue, green, and pink. As a person who cares about appearance, I asked a friend to buy me a small pink one from Japan.

Let's call this color girly pink, it's much better than expected. The ceramic is very transparent, the workmanship is fine and round, and it feels great.

Note: As the inventor of the world's first conical coffee filter, we designed a petal-shaped filter cup to enrich the taste of coffee.

Note:

1. Flower-shaped ribs. When using filter cloth, the flower-shaped inner ribs form an air layer to allow the coffee powder to fully expand.

2. Cone shape. The cone shape allows the water to fully contact the coffee, helping to gently extract delicious coffee.

3. Bottom ribs: The bottom ribs ensure the stable taste of the coffee liquid.

4. The integrated handle is easy to hold.

These are the information collected from the outer packaging. You still need to use it first to see if it is good or not. Use the well-known V60 filter cup to compare with the "Little Pink".

Use the most familiar kalita copper kettle, Yirgacheffe washed wok (lemon, kumquat, white grape juice)

Use Baratza Forte BG grinder 5B grind

Use water temperature around 88 degrees

When the coffee beans, hand brewing pot, grinding degree, water temperature, steaming time, overall brewing time, and filter paper remain unchanged, let's compare the differences between V60 and "Little Powder".

Left: V60 wet filter paper Right: "Xiaofen" wet filter paper

The edge of the filter paper after the "Xiaofen" wet filter paper is wavy, while the edge of the V60 wet filter paper is smooth.

After brewing with the "Xiaofen", the edge of the coffee grounds is still wavy. These are the differences between the "Xiaofen" and the V60.

When I compared the two together, I found that the angle of the "Little Pink" was smaller than that of the V60. In order to verify the angle, I relearned trigonometric functions... I am still scared when I think about it now

After calculating for more than half an hour, I found that the angle of the "small powder" is 52°C±1°C. Although it is within 10°C of the V60, the filter paper suitable for V60 can also fit the inner ribs of the "small powder" perfectly. The coffee powder will accumulate at the bottom. It is recommended that the water flow should not flush the space between the coffee powder layer and the filter paper when brewing. It is a good choice to inject water in the middle.

Summarize

The same Yirgacheffe Fivoca washed coffee was brewed for comparison. It was obvious that the body of the "Little Powder" was thicker, closer to flannel, which was a surprise. I thought it would be faster than the V60 in terms of ribs, but it was actually much slower than the V60. This design prolongs the contact time between coffee powder and water. The overall flavor is strong, but not clear and a bit complicated. The Yirgacheffe brewed by V60 has a slight tea taste, but the flavor is much clearer.

If you want a smoother taste, you can try the "Little Pink". Although it is currently only available in Japan, it should be available on Taobao in a while. So don't ask me where I can buy it now. People as superficial as me bought it for its appearance at first. After all, it looks good and is not bad to use. It is not a vase-shaped filter cup. There are too many coffee utensils that look good but are not practical. If you like it, you can pay attention to Taobao to see if it is available.
