Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and Costa coffee is famous for its unique flavor and high quality. In order to better understand the story behind Costa coffee, I decided to embark on a journey to explore its unique coffee beans.

First stop: Colombia

Colombia is one of the world's largest Arabica coffee producers and an important source of high-quality Arabica beans for Costa. I came to the famous coffee producing area in Colombia and visited the process of local farmers planting and harvesting coffee trees.

Here, I saw numerous Arabica trees standing tall in the lush tea gardens. The farmers told me that the Arabica beans grown here have a more delicate and mellow taste due to the unique natural conditions such as climate, soil and altitude.

The farmers also showed me their harvesting tools and processing methods. They told me that coffee beans can only be harvested when they are fully ripe, so as to ensure the quality of the coffee beans. After that, they will peel the coffee fruits, ferment, dry and other processes to extract the coffee beans.

Second stop: Brazil

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer and the main source of Robusta beans for Costa. I came to the famous Sao Paulo state in Brazil and visited a large local coffee plantation.

Here, I saw endless green tea gardens covered with lush Robusta trees. According to the tour guide, due to Brazil's fertile soil and stable climate, the Robusta beans grown here have a strong taste and a certain bitterness.

The tour guide also introduced us in detail the process of picking and processing Robusta beans by local farmers. Unlike Arabica beans, Robusta beans are harvested relatively early. Farmers use mechanical equipment to harvest and extract coffee beans through processes such as washing, peeling, and roasting.

Third stop: Costa Rica

Costa Rica is the hometown of Costa coffee and one of its most important production areas. I came to this beautiful country and visited the famous local coffee farm.

Here, I saw tea gardens full of various varieties of coffee trees, including Arabica and Robusta, etc. The tour guide told me that the coffee beans grown in Costa Rica have a richer and more diverse flavor because of the unique soil quality and climatic conditions.

The guide also showed us how local farmers carefully take care of coffee trees and introduced their methods of picking and processing coffee beans. Farmers carefully select fruits of appropriate maturity for picking, and extract coffee beans through fermentation, drying, screening and other processes.

Fourth stop: Italy

Italy is the birthplace of coffee culture and the headquarters of Costa Coffee. I came to this romantic country and visited the roasting factory of Costa Coffee.

Here, I saw a huge and advanced roasting equipment. The tour guide introduced us in detail the various links in the roasting process, including controlling temperature, time and wind speed. He told us that only by accurately controlling these parameters can we ensure that each coffee bean can achieve the best taste.

The guide also showed us how Costa baristas taste and evaluate each batch of roasted coffee beans. They use professional cups to taste coffee from different origins, types and roasting degrees, and score them based on aroma, acidity, bitterness and other indicators.

Through this journey, I gained a deeper understanding of the rich stories and exquisite craftsmanship behind Costa coffee. From Arabica beans in Colombia to Robusta beans in Brazil, to the diverse varieties in Costa Rica, every Costa coffee bean has gone through the hard work of farmers and the careful care of professionals.

In Italy, the home of coffee culture, Costa baristas ensure that every cup of Costa coffee has the best flavor by precisely controlling roasting parameters and tasting evaluation.

Whether it is from planting to harvesting, or from baking to tasting, Costa always insists on the pursuit of quality and taste. It is this persistence and dedication that makes Costa coffee a well-loved and respected brand in the world.
