How to Order at a Cafe: Americano

Americano is very popular in North America, especially for breakfast. During work, you can see office workers holding Americano everywhere. In other countries where coffee is common, Americano is also quite popular. In China, most coffee shops also offer Americano, which only accounts for 15% of the total output of Italian coffee. It is not difficult to find that most people who like Americano are foreigners and friends who have lived and worked abroad, and most of them take it away. I am glad to see that these friends have gradually turned coffee into a necessity in life.

Strong coffee + water

American coffee was born after World War II. When the Americans ended the war in Europe, many troops came to southern Europe. They couldn't drink espresso, so they diluted it with warm water. Because only this concentration was acceptable to them, it can be seen that espresso is not born to be loved by everyone! Because this way of drinking is mainly for American soldiers, people named it American coffee.

Because most Americans at that time used the filter method to make coffee with a lighter taste. To this day, most American families use drip coffee pots, which is why drip coffee pots are also called American coffee pots. However, the popularity of American coffee made by diluting a cup of espresso with water is due to the effect of Starbucks' global store opening.

Americano, as a type of Italian coffee, contains only espresso and water and has almost no calories. However, some friends say that Americano is not tasty, bitter and strong. Then I have to stand up and say that it must be because the espresso you drink is not made carefully by a coffee craftsman.

It is such a strong liquid that tests the coffee beans and the extraction skills of the barista. If the extraction time is tens of seconds, if the extraction is stopped too early, the espresso will become very sour and astringent and cannot be eaten. If it is stopped a few seconds later, the espresso will feel watery, and even have a bad taste of burnt bitterness and smoke. Only the right time can make a cup of espresso rich and complex, or round, or bright, or calm. Coffee beans of different varieties and roasting degrees will bring different tastes, but even if a cup of delicious espresso that the barista talks about with relish is made, will there still be customers who don't pay for it? Of course, there are still many people who cannot accept the strong stimulation of espresso, but cannot resist the temptation of black coffee, so they choose Americano. After diluting with water, the sour, sweet and bitter taste of espresso are diluted, becoming more pleasing, and you can drink it for a while longer, which is very enjoyable. A good cup of Americano should not only have the bitterness of coffee, but also a little bit of sourness, a little bit of sweetness, as well as the aroma of coffee, and a lasting aftertaste.
