What is the difference between cheap coffee beans and expensive beans?

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and choosing the right coffee beans is essential to making a delicious cup of coffee. There are many coffee beans available in the market at different prices and qualities, including cheap coffee beans and expensive beans. There are some obvious differences between the two.

First, cheap coffee beans usually come from large-scale cultivation, with mechanized harvesting and processing methods. This means that the production cost is lower, and therefore the price is relatively low. However, because large-scale cultivation leads to problems such as excessive use of pesticides and soil degradation, cheap coffee beans are often of poor quality.

In contrast, expensive coffee beans usually come from small farms or specific regions and are planted and harvested using traditional farming methods. These farms focus on environmental protection, high-quality soil, and careful management of each coffee tree. Due to high production costs, high labor intensity, and small harvests, the price of expensive coffee beans is relatively high.

Secondly, cheaper coffee beans are often industrially processed to increase yields and reduce costs. This may include the use of chemicals to remove the pulp from the surface of the coffee beans, fermentation, or bleaching. These processing methods may have a negative impact on the flavor and quality of the coffee beans.

In contrast, expensive coffee beans are usually processed by hand. This includes manual pulp removal, natural fermentation, and sun exposure. By carefully controlling each step, it can ensure that the coffee beans maintain the best flavor and quality.

Finally, cheap coffee beans often do not receive enough attention during the roasting process. Due to time and cost constraints, large-scale producers tend to use fast roasting methods to increase efficiency. However, this fast roasting may cause the coffee to lose some of its aroma and complexity.

In contrast, Guidou pays more attention to detail during the roasting process and uses a slow roasting method to fully release the flavor potential of each coffee bean. This roasting method can make the coffee beans produce a more intense, complex and pleasant taste.

In summary, there is a clear difference between cheap coffee beans and expensive beans. Expensive beans usually come from small farms or specific regions, using traditional farming methods and attention to detail during processing and roasting. Therefore, expensive beans tend to have better quality, taste and flavor.
