Since Starbucks is a company that is doing a good thing for the environment by refusing plastic straws, it’s only a matter of time before plastic cups are out of our lives, landfills, and oceans. Virtually indestructible, biodegradable, and reusable, Kaffeform is a cup made from a single cup of coffee! Made from a byproduct of coffee brewing, Kaffeform's cup is made from coffee grounds, which are typically disposed of after you brew your cup of coffee. After tea and beer, coffee is the most consumed beverage in the world and produces a lot of coffee grounds that are either disposed of or used as fertilizer. To put them to better use, Kraftforme has given coffee grounds a grave-to-cradle approach. Mixed with biopolymers, Kraftforme's cups utilize coffee grounds as a raw material. Not only does the final product look beautiful and earthy (almost like ceramic), but it's also biodegradable, shatterproof, reusable, and has the slight aroma of coffee...which can only be a good thing, right?! The Kaffeeform Cup is the winner of the 2018 Red Dot Product Design Award. Designer: Julian Kaffeeform |
