The limitations of a kettle: Why can’t you use it to brew coffee?

Kettles are an electrical appliance that we often use in our daily lives. They can quickly heat water to boiling. However, although kettles are very convenient for brewing drinks such as tea, they are not suitable for brewing coffee. This article will explore several aspects of why kettles cannot be used to brew coffee.

1. Temperature control

Firstly, kettles usually have a simple switch that turns the heat on and off. This means that the temperature cannot be precisely controlled, which can cause problems when brewing coffee. Different types of coffee beans require different temperatures to release the best flavor and aroma. If you use an electronic beverage dispenser that turns the switch off immediately after boiling, you will not be able to achieve the ideal temperature.

2. Evenly wet

Secondly, in manual drip coffee or other professional coffee equipment, uniform wetting is an important step. The kettle has only one water outlet, which cannot achieve the effect of uniform wetting of coffee powder. This will cause some coffee powder to not fully contact with hot water, thus affecting the taste and flavor of the coffee.

3. Pressure control

In addition, brewing coffee requires a certain degree of pressure to extract the oils and aromas in the coffee beans. However, a kettle does not have the ability to provide enough pressure. In contrast, professional espresso machines achieve the desired effect by injecting hot water at high pressure.

4. Filtration system

Finally, a filtration system is needed to remove coffee grounds and solid particulate matter during the brewing process. However, ordinary kettles do not have built-in filtration systems or other designs for this purpose. If you pour directly into a cup from a switch-off electronic beverage dispenser, this may cause residue to get into your drink.

In summary, in terms of brewing coffee, although the kettle is very convenient in heating water, it is not suitable for brewing coffee due to limitations in temperature control, uniform wetting, pressure control and filtration system. Therefore, in pursuit of a better coffee experience, we should choose professional coffee equipment to brew our favorite drinks.
