Coffee raw materials and production process

Coffee raw materials

The raw materials of coffee mainly include coffee beans and water. Coffee beans are the seeds picked from the coffee tree, which are processed into the coffee we know as coffee. Water is an indispensable part of making coffee.

Coffee bean harvesting and processing

In the growing areas, farmers regularly go to pick the ripe coffee cherries. They usually use manual methods to pick the cherries from the trees and put them into baskets. Then, they will take the harvest back to the processing plant for processing.

In the processing plant, the first thing to do is to wash and screen the picked fruits. Washing can remove the dirt and impurities left on the peel, and screening is to select the best quality fruits.

Next, after cleaning and screening, these fruits, which are not in the fermentation process and are called "green beans", need to be dried. Drying can prevent mold growth and extend the shelf life.

Baking process

After the coffee beans are dried, they are sent to the roasting plant for processing. Roasting is the process of heating the green beans to a certain temperature to evaporate the water inside them and change their color and flavor.

Different coffee varieties and flavors require different degrees of roasting. Light roasting can retain more of the original flavor, while dark roasting will give the coffee a stronger taste and bitter characteristics.

Coffee Making Process

Once we have processed and roasted coffee beans ready, we can start making delicious coffee.

First, we need to pour the right amount of water into the pot and heat it to the appropriate temperature. Then put the required amount of coffee powder into the filter paper or metal filter and place it on top of the pot.

Next, when the water reaches the right temperature, slowly pour it over the filter paper or metal filter. In this way, during the drip process, the water will fully contact and slowly penetrate the coffee powder and finally drip into the pot.

After waiting for a while, we can pour the prepared coffee into the cup and add sugar, milk or other seasonings according to personal taste.

Conclusion

The raw materials and production process of coffee is a complex and delicate process. From planting to picking, to processing and roasting, every link requires the careful care of farmers and baristas. Only after these steps can delicious coffee with a rich aroma and taste be produced.
