Making coffee with a coffee maker: Is cold or hot water better?

Is cold or hot water better?

Coffee is a popular beverage that can be prepared in many different ways. One of the key issues is whether to use cold or hot water when brewing coffee. This issue has caused a lot of controversy and discussion. This article will explore the pros and cons of using cold water and hot water to brew coffee, and give my opinion.

Use cold water

Some people believe that brewing coffee with cold water can better preserve the aroma and flavor of the coffee beans. They believe that soaking the coffee beans in cold boiled water can slowly release the aroma and extract more complex and deep flavors.

In addition, using cold boiled water can also reduce the production of bitter taste. Because the substances extracted at lower temperatures are relatively small, less bitter components will be released.

Use hot water

However, some people advocate using hot (boiling) water to make coffee for best results. They believe that hot water can release the aroma and flavor of the coffee beans faster and extract more rich and full taste.

In addition, using hot water can better control the brewing time. Because the water molecules are more active at higher temperatures, the substances in the coffee beans will be dissolved faster. In this way, we can adjust the brewing time according to personal taste and get the ideal coffee concentration.

My opinion

In my opinion, there is no right or wrong answer when choosing to use cold or hot water. In fact, different people have different preferences for coffee taste and aroma.

If you like coffee with a deep, complex, floral, fruity aroma and sweet taste, you can try using cold (cold) water to make it. This will retain more volatile substances and reduce bitter ingredients.

On the other hand, if you like a rich, full-bodied coffee with caramel or chocolate flavors, you can choose to use hot water. This will release the aroma and flavor of the coffee beans faster and control the brewing time.

In short, whether you use cold water or hot water to make coffee, the most important thing is to choose according to your personal taste and preference. Only through constant trial and adjustment can you find the coffee that best suits your taste.
