Three stages of coffee development: origin, spread and modernization

Three stages of coffee development: origin, spread and modernization

origin

The origins of coffee can be traced back hundreds of years to Africa. Legend has it that in the 9th century, a shepherd named Kaldi discovered the coffee tree. He noticed that his sheep became unusually active after eating coffee berries. So Kaldi tried this miracle fruit and found that it could keep people awake and energetic.

Over time, people began to drink coffee and began to appreciate its unique flavor and refreshing effect. The Arabs were the first to use coffee beans to make drinks, and in their hands, coffee gradually became popular.

spread

After spreading from the Arab region, coffee soon entered other countries and regions. One of the earliest countries to be exposed to coffee was Turkey, which became the first country to introduce and widely use coffee drinks in the late 16th century.

As trade networks continued to expand and improve, more and more countries began to trade with Arabia and learned about the existence of coffee. Coffee soon spread to Europe and became a fashionable drink for the upper class.

In the late 17th and early 18th centuries, coffee began to spread in the Americas. The Dutch were the first to introduce coffee, and in their hands, coffee gradually became one of the main cash crops in the American colonies.

modernization

Over time, the coffee production and quality control technology has been continuously improved, making modern production technology possible. The late 19th century to the early 20th century was a period of rapid development in the coffee industry.

Scientists began to study how to optimize the growing, harvesting and processing processes, and invented many new technologies to improve yield and quality. For example, advanced baking equipment and fine-tuned temperature control systems appeared in the early 20th century.

At the same time, with the advancement of transportation technology, regions around the world can more easily trade and share high-quality coffee produced in different countries or regions. This further promotes the development and modernization of the coffee industry.

Today, coffee has become one of the most popular drinks in the world. Whether at home, in the office or in a coffee shop, people can enjoy a variety of coffee flavors. From its origin to its spread to modernization, coffee has become an indispensable part of our lives.
