Drip coffee: Why it doesn’t get strong enough

Drip coffee: Why it doesn’t get strong enough

Drip coffee: The reason why it can't be made strong is the focus

Drip coffee is a popular brewing method, but sometimes you may find that it doesn’t reach the desired strength. This article will explore the reasons why drip coffee doesn’t reach the desired strength and provide some solutions.

1. Improper selection of coffee powder

It is very important to choose the right powder for drip coffee. If you use too fine or too coarse a grind, it will affect the final taste and concentration. For drip coffee, medium to medium-fine grind is the best choice.

Also, be sure to buy fresh, high-quality coffee beans and grind them freshly for drip coffee before brewing.

2. Wrong proportions

It is very important to get the ratio of water to coffee powder right. If you use too much water and too little or too much coffee powder, the coffee will be too weak or too strong.

Generally speaking, 15 grams of ground coffee to 200 ml of water is a good starting point. Fine-tune according to your personal taste preferences to find the ratio that suits you best.

3. Insufficient brewing time

Drip coffee needs enough time to come into contact with the water in order to extract the rich flavor and concentration. If you just rush to pour the water in and dump it out immediately, you may not achieve the desired effect.

Generally, it is recommended to wait about 4-5 minutes before pouring out the accumulated coffee liquid in the dripper. This ensures full extraction and a richer taste.

4. Water temperature problem

Correctly controlling the water temperature is also one of the key factors affecting the strength of drip coffee. If the water temperature is too low, the complex compounds contained in the coffee cannot be effectively extracted; if the water temperature is too high, it may cause bitterness and burnt taste.

Generally speaking, it is a good idea to heat the water to between 90°C and 96°C. This ensures that the flavors in the coffee powder are fully extracted while avoiding over-extraction and bitterness.

5. Drip quality issues

Finally, the quality of the dripper itself may also affect the concentration of the coffee. If the dripper is poorly designed or made of inappropriate materials, it may cause the water to flow too fast or too slow, thus affecting the final concentration.

It is recommended to buy a dripper from a well-known and market-tested brand, and pay attention to whether there are any abnormalities when using it. If you suspect that the dripper itself is the cause of the inability to achieve the desired concentration, try changing to another brand or model for experimentation.

in conclusion

In short, in pursuit of the ideal strong taste, we need to pay attention to the selection of coffee powder, proportion control, brewing time, water temperature and the quality of the dripper. By adjusting these factors and experimenting and trying, I believe you can find the concentration of drip coffee that suits your taste and preferences.

I hope this article was helpful, happy brewing!
