A comprehensive guide to coffee information

The origin of coffee

Coffee is a beverage made from ground coffee beans that originated in Africa. According to legend, in the 9th century AD, a shepherd named Kaldi noticed that his sheep became unusually active after eating a kind of red berry. He curiously tasted the berry and found that it had a refreshing effect. So people began to boil these berries and drink them, thus discovering coffee.

Classification of coffee beans

Coffee beans can be divided into several varieties according to their origin and processing methods. The most common ones are Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica Coffee

Arabica is the most common and popular type of coffee bean. It grows at high altitudes and requires a warm and humid environment to grow well. Arabica has a dense and smooth taste, a long aroma, and a more balanced and smooth taste.

Robusta Coffee

Robusta is another common type of coffee bean. It grows in low altitude areas and has strong adaptability to the environment. Robusta has a strong flavor and high acidity, making it suitable for making strong Italian coffee.

Coffee grinding method

Coffee can be ground to different degrees according to different usage and taste requirements. The most common ones are coarse, medium and fine.

Coarse grinding

A coarse grind is suitable for longer brewing methods with lower water temperatures, such as a French press or pour-over kettle. This allows the water to fully contact the coffee and extract more aroma and flavor.

Medium Grind

Medium fineness is suitable for drip or filtered brewing methods, such as home drip machines or manual filters. This method can balance the four basic tastes of sour, sweet, bitter and astringent, and make the drink more balanced.

Fine grinding

Fine grinding is suitable for concentrated brewing methods, such as espresso machines or capsule coffee machines. This method can extract more caffeine and bitter flavors, making a strong espresso.

Specialty coffee from different countries

Every country has its own unique coffee culture and taste preferences.

Italy

Italy is one of the most famous coffee producing countries in the world. In Italy, people like to drink strong and rich espresso with milk foam (ESP Resso), as well as semi-sweet or sweet latte made with milk.

France

The French like to enjoy life slowly. They usually choose black drip-style coffee (Café au lait) that is deeply roasted and added with flavoring substances such as vanilla to start the day.

Türkiye

Türkiye is one of the birthplaces of coffee. They like to drink very finely ground coffee beans with boiling water. The coffee produced in this way has a rich aroma and earthy taste.

Summarize

Whether you like strong and mellow or light and smooth, you can choose different types and grinding degrees of coffee beans according to your taste preferences.
