Ground coffee vs. black coffee: Differences in taste and preparation

Coffee is a widely loved drink around the world, and there are two main ingredients used in making coffee: ground coffee and black coffee. There are obvious differences between the two in terms of taste and preparation. This article will focus on this and explore the differences between them.

1. Taste

First, let's look at the differences in taste and flavor. Due to the different production processes, the taste of the two is also very different.

Coffee made from coffee powder is characterized by a strong aroma, rich taste, and high acidity. This is because the fine and uniform particles obtained after grinding make it easier to release sufficient and complex and diverse aroma components during the brewing process.

In contrast, black coffee is stronger, more bitter, and has lower acidity. This is because black coffee is brewed directly from ground coffee beans without filtering or other processing steps. This allows the oils and solid particles in the coffee to remain, increasing its strength and bitterness.

2. Production method

Next, let's look at the differences in how they are made. There are differences in the steps required to make ground coffee and black coffee.

For coffee powder, you first need to choose the right grind size. A finer grind size is suitable for espresso machines or French presses, while a coarser grind size is suitable for drip or siphon brewing equipment. Then put the appropriate amount of coffee powder into the device and add pre-heated and temperature-controlled water (usually 90-96°C) to brew.

In contrast, black coffee is much simpler and more direct. Just mix the right amount of fresh water with the corresponding ratio (usually 1:15) of freshly ground coffee beans, and then brew it in boiling water for a few minutes. Finally, pass the solid particles through a filter to separate out the pure black coffee.

Summarize

In summary, there are obvious differences in taste and production methods between coffee powder and black coffee. Coffee made with coffee powder has a strong aroma, rich taste, and high acidity; while black coffee is stronger, bitter, and has lower acidity. In terms of production methods, using coffee powder requires choosing the right grinding degree and brewing; while black coffee is simpler and more direct, just mix water with the ground beans and filter.

No matter what type of people they like, they can feel the pleasant experience brought by different flavors when enjoying a delicious cup.
