China Business Information Network: What is coffee? Coffee is a beverage made from roasted coffee beans, usually hot, but also iced coffee as a cold drink. Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in human society. Coffee, tea and cocoa are known as the world's three major beverage plants. The coffee tree is an evergreen small tree belonging to the Rubiaceae family. The coffee we drink daily is made from coffee beans with various cooking utensils, and coffee beans refer to the kernels inside the coffee tree fruit, which are then roasted using appropriate methods.
In 2017, China exported 104,900 tons of coffee, with an export value of 646.36 million US dollars. The top ten provinces and cities with the largest export volume are Yunnan, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Fujian, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangxi, Chongqing, Hubei and Shandong. Among them, Yunnan Province has the largest export volume, which is 60,700 tons, accounting for 57.9% of the total coffee export volume in China. The second and third places in export volume are Jiangsu Province and Guangdong Province.

In terms of import volume, China imported 99,000 tons of coffee in 2017, with an import value of US$684.55 million. The top ten provinces and cities in terms of coffee import volume are Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shanghai, Shandong, Yunnan, Beijing, Fujian, Guangxi, Anhui and Tianjin. Jiangsu imported the most coffee, at 32,900 tons, ranking first.
