8-minute review, is the Thermos hand-poured coffee set useful?

Many people should know the brand Thermos. To be honest, the thermos cup is really easy to use, but they have always had a series of small household appliances. Recently, we discovered a new Thermos hand brewing utensil set.

Today's review is about this new set of Thermos appliances, which includes a portable electric grinder and a hand brewing kettle. We will publish objective test data and share actual experience in today's review, hoping to provide some reference for everyone.

Coffee grinder set

First, let’s take a look at the coffee bean grinder set. I was quite excited before I got the real thing, because it seems to be one of the few portable electric grinders on the market that claims to be fully grinding. This also means that we can take the electric coffee bean grinder to different places to make coffee, communicate, or make mini coffee beans to share.

Basic Information

The whole machine weighs only about 700g and has a very simple structure. It only has three parts: the movement, the grinding core and the powder receiver. After the movement and the grinding core are connected, they can be driven to rotate. Friends who are playing for the first time can also get started quickly.

The switch is on the top of the movement. Touching the switch twice in a row can start the grinder. This is a detail I like, which prevents the grinder from being started by accidentally touching the switch.

The charging port is USB-micro, and it can grind a single item about 20 times after charging. During normal use, there are no cumbersome wires or components, and it is very convenient to use at home or out.

Test Data

In terms of grinding, I prefer full grinding, high nitrogen steel blades and slow grinding.

Through use, the grinding of single product takes 40-50 seconds, and the Italian grinding takes about 3 minutes. Slow grinding can greatly reduce the heat generated during the grinding process and retain more coffee aroma.

First, let’s talk about the single product. We used Ethiopian fruit tangding for testing. In terms of subjective taste, the single product has a good sense of layering and sweetness.

As for the powder diameter, we used a 35-grid scale after zeroing, and used a Kruve 400-micron sieve to sift out fine powder. The grinding degree was fairly uniform. On average, there were 1.7g of fine powder in 10g of coffee beans. I personally think this is acceptable, after all, this is still a full-grinding grinder.

For the Italian part, we used regular medium-dark roasted blended beans for extraction. After a series of extractions, the extraction rate was stable at 18-19%. The espresso tasted relatively complete, but the grinding efficiency was a bit poor, so it would be more suitable for home use.

Generally speaking, the grinding effect is close to what I originally imagined. After all, as an electric grinder that costs less than 2,000 yuan and can be carried around, we should not be too harsh on it if it can achieve this.

Support and maintenance

The grinding adjustment is step-by-step. Fix the core and the grinding core, and then turn the adjustment knob. If you continue to unscrew the knob, you can remove the blade, so it is also more convenient to clean.

In addition, the configuration of this set is also relatively rich. In addition to the portable electric grinder, it also comes with an assembled triangular filter cup, a bean storage tank, a funnel for pouring powder, a cleaning brush, a portable bag, etc.

There are two small appliances that I like the most. The first is the filter cup, which is easy to assemble and does not take up space. It can be used directly with a conical filter paper, which is more suitable for take-out. The second is the funnel. The powder collector can be directly put on the funnel to pour the powder, and the coffee powder will not fly everywhere.

Having said the advantages, let me talk about the only shortcoming I think is that the shell of this grinder is mostly made of resin. If I am a careless person like me who often bumps and bangs it, I will have some concerns about the shell. I hope that there will be a metal version for us to choose in the future. Even if the price is a little higher, it is acceptable.

Hand brewing kettle set

In addition to the pot itself, the hand-poured kettle set also comes with a base and a thermometer.

The net weight of the hand brewing kettle plus the thermometer is about 800g. The officially announced capacity is 600ml. After actual use, the maximum capacity can reach about 700ml. I also prefer this wood with matte design, so the appearance is actually quite high-end.

In addition, the workmanship of the entire hand-brewed kettle is also very solid, especially the relatively fragile connection point between the spout and the kettle body, which is also welded very firmly.

User Experience

The spout is designed to be a little bigger than the narrow spout, so it is more maneuverable. It can control the flow and brew with a large flow. The minimum flow rate of fixed-point water injection is about 1.5-1.7 grams per second, and the maximum flow rate can reach 30 grams per second. However, the grip is a little too thin for me. It will be more user-friendly for friends with small hands or girls.

It takes about 3 minutes to boil water from 25 degrees. Since the base itself has heating but no temperature control function, a thermometer is included in the set, which can be directly installed on the lid to test the temperature. The official also said that a temperature control version will be launched in the future, so that users with different needs can have different choices, which we are also looking forward to.

This series of hand brewing utensils have very good appearance design, portable full grinding electric grinder, wider application range, making it easier for home users to get a cup of fresh coffee. The hand brewing kettle is solidly made and feels comfortable.

Although both have areas that need improvement, there is no perfect appliance in reality, and innovation and competition will lead to continuous progress. I hope that in the future Thermos can make more efforts in the coffee field and continue to bring us more interesting new gadgets.

So how will coffee equipment from a brand that specializes in high-quality heat preservation products perform? Let's take a look.
