Boiling water for coffee

Boiling water for coffee

There is one small thing I do every morning when I wake up: boil water and make a cup of coffee.

Use a large stainless steel kettle with a capacity of about ten liters (why so big? It’s the only size available), fill it with a little water, place it on the stove, and boil it over high heat.

I am not particularly particular about coffee. I just use the instant coffee you often see in supermarkets, the original flavor. I make one cup from one coffee. It is simple, quick and tastes good.

I also bought the kind that requires you to season your coffee yourself, and I also received a very delicate small can of coffee, which I also had to season myself. I tried it, but I wasn't used to it. It may also be that the proportions were not right when I seasoned it myself. Later, it all became moldy and I had to throw it away.

Tear open a packet, pour it into a white porcelain cup, look for the stirring spoon, and hold it in your hand. Sometimes, the water boils before you are ready. Pour the boiling water into the cup, stir it a few times, and you can drink the fragrant steaming coffee. The warmth of the stove fire and the enthusiasm of the boiling water are all integrated into this cup of boiling hot coffee. One cup can make people satisfied and energetic.

I've also drunk coffee brewed with hot water that had been left overnight; it was lukewarm and tasted bland. I poured it out and brewed it again, but that seemed too pretentious, so I had to keep silent or complain (coffee brewed with this water is really unpalatable, boiling water is better), and then endured it and drank it, which was simply ruining the coffee and my mood.

Can I not drink coffee? Yes. I just get up early, sit at my desk, and turn on the warm light, which makes me sleepy. Many times, I just lie on my desk and take a sweet nap. Later, I found that coffee was useful, so I drank it regularly and gradually developed a habit.

My husband bought me a big bag, the size of a small flour bag, and told me to drink it and see how long it would take me to finish it. After a while, he checked again and was surprised to see that there was not much left.

I went to a farm produce fair with him. I didn't plan to buy anything. When we passed a coffee booth, a beautiful salesperson handed us a small cup of hot coffee. I drank it and thought it tasted good. I looked up and saw "Vietnamese cat poop coffee". The name was really disgusting! I had read about cat poop coffee in a book, and the production process was even more disgusting. I thought to myself, I definitely won't buy it.

When I passed by this booth again, the salesman gave me another small cup. Behind the booth, a man in a suit shouted, "It's on sale, buy two get two free." I calculated and thought it was a good deal. He asked if we wanted it, and said he was about to take a flight and couldn't carry so much. I asked where he was going, and he answered seriously, back to Vietnam.

The coffee tastes good. Buy one pack, buy two get two free, buy one get one free, right? He said, buy two packs, it's a good deal, and without waiting for your approval, he packed four packs, a big box. Okay, that's it.

As I was leaving the booth with a large bag of coffee, I suddenly realized that this person had come from Vietnam to attend the agricultural product fair in Hefei. Wasn’t that too far? Also, was his Chinese authentic? There was also a young man selling beef jerky at the scene. He said his beef jerky was very cheap because the government subsidized him 20 yuan per kilogram. I was very skeptical about his statement. Did the government know how many kilograms he sold? Where did they subsidize him? However, the beef jerky was really delicious, so I happily bought some. I couldn’t help laughing when I talked about this with my husband.

For those who sell Vietnamese civet coffee, it doesn’t matter whether it’s from Vietnam, as long as the coffee is good.

When he handed me the coffee, he tilted his head, looked at me, then looked at his raised left hand, and used his thumb and index finger to gesture very seriously, saying that it should be brewed in a cup this high (the distance between the two fingers is shorter), and not in a cup this high (the distance between the two fingers is longer). After gesturing, he looked at me again, his eyes sparkling, as if to ask me if I understood. I couldn't help laughing, and said in a flattering manner, "I understand."

Before using boiling water to make this coffee, I thought of his gesture and wondered how tall the cup would be suitable. Do I have a "cup that tall" at home?

Then I realized this was a difficult problem. Although there were many cups at home, they had different calibers, some large, some medium, and some small. It was obviously inappropriate for him to just indicate the height. He should use his hands to make a heart shape and indicate the caliber.

I found a similar cup and when I took out the coffee bar, I found that it clearly said, "Add 120 ml of boiling water".
