Is Americano black coffee?
I believe that many coffee novices find it easy to confuse the concepts of American coffee and black coffee.

What is Americano?
The name of American coffee (Italian) is CaffeAmericano (these are two Italian words, which are not convenient to mix with English words). It is made by adding hot water to Italian espresso.
The other is American drip coffee, which is the same as European drip coffee, but weaker than European drip coffee. In other words, the powder water is smaller.
Although the two names are the same, they are two completely different things. They have different flavors and different production methods. It can only be said that the taste is similar, but there are still big differences.
The key difference is that in the production of Italian espresso, hot water is forced through the coffee grounds under pressure, while drip coffee is filtered entirely by gravity, so drip coffee takes longer to brew and requires more coffee grounds and water. Italian espresso also requires water to be added to American coffee.
Drip coffee has a lower density and concentration, no stratification, a pure taste, and uniform quality. This is because hot water can more fully absorb coffee oils and aromatic substances, making the coffee taste softer.
To sum up, black coffee is just a general term. As the name suggests, black coffee is coffee without anything, sugar and milk, but it is limited to American coffee. Coffee brewed with other brewing equipment can become black coffee, such as simple manual brewing coffee, syphon coffee and ice drip coffee.
