Luckin Coffee wins IIAC International Coffee Bean Gold Award again

The 13th International Coffee Tasting Competition came to an end in Tokyo, Japan, and Luckin Coffee once again won the gold medal in the IIAC International Coffee Tasting Competition.

On December 16, Luckin Coffee won the gold medal at the 2019 IIAC International Taster Competition. The competition set up a strict blind test review mechanism with 30 global judges, and Luckin Coffee's four coffee beans stood out among 289 samples from 11 countries and regions.

In this selection, Luckin Coffee's four varieties of coffee beans won gold awards. Among them, Topped Off won the gold award in the fully automatic coffee machine group; WIDE AWAKE #A, HAVE PASSION, and CUP OF JOY #A won the gold award in the Espresso international group.

The above four types of coffee beans were created by the WBC world champion team composed of Izaki Hideki, Andrea Lattuada, and Pan Zhimin. The coffee beans were strictly considered in terms of roasting degree, formula ratio and extraction time, and were blended after repeated evaluation and optimization.

Since its establishment, Luckin Coffee has always adhered to the concept of "good coffee is actually not expensive". After winning the award for the first time in 2018, it took less than three months to launch the award-winning coffee beans to the mass consumer market.

At the same time, Luckin Coffee was the first in the industry to propose the consumer concept of "best tasting period within 2 months". Whether it is the quality of coffee beans or the cost-effectiveness of the final product, it is ahead of its peers and has been highly recognized by consumers.

On November 23, "China Quality Tour" conducted a latte blind test in Shenzhen, selecting latte from four coffee chain brands: Starbucks, Luckin Coffee, COSTA, and Pacific Coffee.

After four rounds of "blind drinking", Luckin Coffee received the best ratings in terms of aroma, body, bitterness and aftertaste, and became the coffee with the highest consumer repurchase intention with the highest total score. This latte is made from the coffee beans that won the gold award in 2018.

It is reported that the International Coffee Tasting Association (IIAC) is the organizer of the competition. It was founded in Italy in 1993 and is currently one of the most authoritative coffee tasting organizations in the world. It is an independent, scientific, non-profit coffee tasting organization that aims to study and spread scientific methods for evaluating Italian coffee.

The IIAC International Coffee Tasting Competition Gold Award is considered to be the "Oscar-level" award in international coffee bean competitions. Its original intention was to reward coffees that have been carefully picked, professionally processed, carefully screened, meticulously roasted, and uniquely blended on a global scale.

“Coffee is global in nature and today there are some very precise tastes on the international scene,” said Luigi Odello, president of the International Institute of Coffee Connoisseurs (IIAC). “From what we have seen over the years in the market, products with delicate and complex aromas tend to be favored.”

In addition to beverages, Luckin Coffee is also actively expanding its other coffee product lines. On December 25, six drip coffees were officially launched.
