Coffee bean varieties: From Arabica to Robusta, how much do you know?

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and there are many varieties of coffee beans. From Arabica to Robusta, each variety has its own unique flavor and characteristics.

Arabica is one of the most common and widely used coffee bean varieties. It is produced in high altitude areas such as Central and South America, Africa and Asia. Arabica beans generally have a lower caffeine content and have a complex and soft taste with floral, fruity and chocolate flavors.

Robusta is another important coffee bean variety. Compared to Arabica, Robusta is easier to grow and more resistant to pests and diseases. This makes Robusta more profitable and relatively cheaper. However, Robusta has a bitter, strong aftertaste with nutty or woody notes.

In addition to these two main varieties, there are several other special or rare types of coffee beans:

  • Ethiopian Yirgacheffe: This is a special type of Arabica bean from Ethiopia known for its floral aroma and soft taste.
  • Colombian Supremo: This is a premium Arabica bean from Colombia with rich acidity and a balanced taste.
  • Jamaica Blue Mountain: This is a rare and highly regarded variety of coffee beans produced in Jamaica. It has a light, smooth and mild flavor.

In addition, there are other regional specific or unique varieties, such as Brazilian Santos, Kenya AA, etc. Each variety brings us a different flavor experience and is suitable for different people's preferences.

In short, when choosing coffee, you should consider your flavor preferences and personal taste needs. Whether you like floral, fruity or rich nutty flavors, you can find a variety of coffee beans that suits your taste.
