The coffee bean cultivation process: from seeds to fragrant coffee, do you know?

The process of growing coffee beans is a complex and delicate one, going through multiple stages from seed to fragrant coffee.

First, growers select high-quality coffee tree seeds. After screening and processing, these seeds are placed in the seedling bed for germination. Under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, the seedlings begin to emerge after about two weeks.

Next is the transplanting stage. When the seedlings grow to a certain height, they will be transplanted into a larger container to promote their growth. This process requires attention to maintaining appropriate light, water and nutrient supply.

Over time, the seedlings turn into adult coffee trees and begin to produce flowers and fruits. This stage usually takes several years to reach. The coffee tree produces white flowers that bloom in the sun, creating an attractive and fragrant sight.

When the flowers fade, the berries begin to form and gradually turn red or yellow depending on the variety. At this point, the berries already contain unprocessed coffee beans and have a somewhat sour taste. Growers regularly check the ripeness of the berries to ensure they are picked at the best time.

Picking is a crucial step in the coffee bean farming process. Usually, manual picking is the preferred method because it ensures that only ripe berries are selected. These berries are carefully peeled away, exposing the coffee beans.

Next comes the processing stage. There are two processing methods: dry and wet. Dry processing involves drying the coffee beans in the sun until the moisture content drops to a suitable level; wet processing requires removing the pulp from the coffee beans and washing and removing impurities through processes such as fermentation.

The last step is roasting. This process is very important because it determines the flavor and aroma of the coffee. The roaster adjusts the time and temperature according to different taste requirements, and makes the coffee reach the ideal state while controlling the heat.

There are many steps from seeds to fragrant coffee: germination, transplanting, flowering and fruiting, ripening and picking, processing and roasting. Each step requires the patience and skills of the grower to ensure the final quality of coffee beans.
