How many types of coffee beans are there?

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and coffee beans are the key ingredient in making coffee. Globally, there are several different types of coffee beans, each with unique flavors and characteristics.

First of all, the most common and widely used is Arabica coffee beans. This type of beans occupies more than 70% of the global market. Arabica coffee beans are usually grown in high altitude areas and require relatively warm and humid climatic conditions. They are soft, aromatic and slightly acidic. Arabica has a relatively low caffeine content, but its flavor is complex and delicate.

The second largest coffee bean is Robusta, which accounts for about 30% of the global market. Compared with Arabica, Robusta is easier to cultivate and has stronger adaptability, and can grow well in low-altitude areas. Robusta beans usually have a strong, bitter and nutty taste. They contain higher caffeine and are therefore widely used in making strong and bitter coffee.

In addition to Arabica and Robusta, there are some special types of coffee beans. For example, Excelsa is a relatively rare but highly praised bean. They have a unique and complex flavor, often with citrus, floral and woody flavors.

Additionally, Bourbon is a very popular coffee bean variety that originated from the island of Madagascar. These beans are grown at high altitudes and have a rich, full-bodied taste with a sweet, fruity flavor.

Finally, there are several other types such as Blue Mountain, Kilimanjaro, etc., which are world-renowned, highly respected and more expensive.

In summary, there are many different types and varieties of coffee beans around the world. Each has a unique and pleasant flavor, satisfying the preferences and taste needs of different people for coffee.
