The magical transformation of coffee beans: from planting to roasting, do you know?

The magical transformation of coffee beans: from planting to roasting, do you know?

Coffee beans are one of the indispensable drinks in our daily life. They go through a magical transformation process, from planting to roasting, to become the fragrant coffee we drink. Let me take you to explore this process.

First of all, planting is the first step in the life cycle of coffee beans. Coffee trees usually grow in high altitudes and thrive in suitable climatic conditions. Farmers will choose the right soil and climate to plant coffee trees, and patiently wait for several years until the trees mature and start to bear fruit.

Next comes the picking stage. When the coffee cherries turn red, it means they are ripe. Farmers pick each cherry by hand, ensuring that only the best quality and most complete cherries are selected for subsequent processing.

Then comes the peeling and fermentation process. During this stage, farmers will put the picked fruits into a pool for washing and peeling. Then they will place the beans in an environment with specific temperature and humidity for fermentation, which usually takes one to two days.

Next comes the drying of the coffee beans. Farmers will spread the fermented coffee beans out in the sun to dry, or use special equipment to dry them. This process requires patience and meticulousness to ensure that the beans are completely dry and free of mold contamination.

The final, crucial step is roasting. During this phase, the beans are heated to high temperatures and stirred constantly to ensure even heating. As the temperature rises, the beans begin to change color and develop a rich aroma. Once cooled, they become the coffee beans we know as coffee.

In summary, there are multiple steps between planting and roasting: planting, picking, peeling and fermentation, drying and the final roasting process. Each step requires farmers to put in a lot of labor and wait patiently to get high-quality coffee beans.

So, while enjoying a cup of fragrant coffee, you might as well imagine the hard work and patient waiting behind these magical transformations.
