Coffee beans are the raw material for making coffee. They go through a series of processing steps to become the coffee we know. The following will introduce the production process of coffee beans from four aspects: picking, processing, roasting and grinding. The first is the picking stage. Coffee beans grow at high altitudes and usually need to be picked by hand. Farmers carefully select the fruits that are moderately mature and put them into baskets or bags. This stage is very important because only by choosing the right time and method to pick can the best quality be guaranteed. Next comes the processing stage. Once a sufficient number of coffee cherries have been harvested, farmers process them to remove the pulp and outer skin. There are two main methods: dry and wet. The dry method involves drying the whole cherries in the sun, during which the pulp naturally falls off; the wet method involves washing them with water and removing the outer skin before drying them. Then comes the roasting stage. This step is crucial to producing coffee with different flavors and tastes. The purpose of roasting is to evaporate the moisture inside the coffee beans through high temperature, making them more fragrant. Different degrees of roasting will produce coffee beans with different colors and flavors, such as light roast, medium roast and dark roast. The last stage is the grinding stage. Before drinking the coffee, the whole coffee bean needs to be ground into powder. This increases the surface area, allowing water to better contact the coffee and release rich aroma and flavor. Depending on the different brewing methods (such as drip, espresso, etc.), you can choose different coarse and fine grinding. In summary, making a delicious cup of coffee is inseparable from the meticulous and complex process from picking to processing to the final step. Each link has an impact on the final quality. In this process, farmers have made a lot of efforts to ensure that we can enjoy high-quality and delicious coffee. |
