The secrets of using coffee beans: from beginner to advanced techniques!

Coffee beans are the main raw material for making coffee. They have a wide range of uses and applications. Whether it is entry-level or advanced skills, it is crucial to master the use of coffee beans. This article will reveal the use of coffee beans from three aspects: selection, grinding and brewing.

First, when choosing coffee beans, you need to consider what flavor you like and the type of drink you want. Coffee beans produced in different regions have their own characteristics, such as the rich latte taste produced in Brazil and the strong floral aroma produced in Ethiopia. In addition, according to the degree of roasting, they can be divided into three types: light roasting, medium roasting and dark roasting. Generally speaking, light roasting is more sour and dark roasting is more bitter; the middle level provides a balanced taste.

Secondly, when grinding, you need to pay attention to the coarseness required for different drinks. For hand-brew or drip brewing methods, coarser particles can keep the water and coffee in full contact, producing a richer taste; while for espresso machines or French presses, finer particles are required to ensure that the water can fully extract the flavor of the coffee when passing through the coffee layer. Therefore, when grinding, you can adjust it according to the brewing equipment you use.

Finally, you need to pay attention to the water temperature and time control during the brewing process. Generally speaking, the appropriate brewing temperature is 90-96 degrees Celsius. If the water temperature is too high, it will increase the bitterness, while if it is too low, the aroma components in the coffee beans may not be fully extracted. In addition, the brewing time required for different drinks is also different. For example, espresso usually only takes 25-30 seconds to brew; while hand-brewed or drip-brewed coffee takes longer to ensure full extraction.

In short, when using coffee beans, you should choose according to your personal taste and preferences, and adjust them according to different types of drinks, grinding degrees and brewing methods. By using these tips properly, you will be able to make satisfying and delicious coffee.
