Click to follow | vdailycom Every coffee lover may have a completely different pursuit of coffee flavor. Some people like original coffee with a slightly bitter taste, while others like sweet coffee. There are many ways to drink coffee. Since a single flavor of coffee cannot satisfy your taste buds, you might as well try it yourself and drink the coffee flavor you have been waiting for! Today I will tell you how to make a good cup of coffee: 1. Choose fresh coffee beans Fresh coffee beans have two characteristics: charming aroma and good taste. Different varieties of coffee beans have different qualities and tastes. So-called high-quality coffee beans are meant to retain the aroma and taste of coffee as much as possible, and fully release it when it is finally brewed. When buying coffee, some people may buy a large bag of pre-made coffee beans, but if you want to have coffee beans with unique flavor, you must not make the mistake of hoarding, because the aroma and taste of coffee are produced after roasting. Coffee can reach its peak flavor after a few days of roasting and should be consumed within one month of its roasting date. The flavor of coffee beans that have been stored for a long time will be lost, making the coffee stale. 2. Store beans properly to keep their fresh taste as much as possible To keep the coffee you buy fresh longer, make sure you store it the right way. While many people recommend using a vacuum-sealed container with a one-way valve, a standard Mason jar is sufficient for most people. If you have multiple sizes of Mason jars, simply move the coffee to the most appropriate size jar when brewing. A wide-mouthed quart-sized jar (946.35 ml) is perfect for storing 12 ounces (340 grams) of coffee. Narrow down the jar to a pint-sized jar (473.18 ml), or use a 4-ounce (118.29 ml) jelly jar to store pre-measured portions. 3. Grind your coffee before brewing for the best flavor Experts say that coffee starts to lose flavor within 30 minutes of being ground. In this case, it is best to grind it on the spot. Grind size and consistency are important. Grinding too coarsely can easily lead to insufficient extraction and tasteless coffee. Grinding too finely will over-extract the coffee and taste bitter. Therefore, most drip coffee machines require medium to medium-fine grinding. Additionally, blade grinders can produce inconsistent particle sizes and lead to over-extraction, and high-quality automatic burr grinders are expensive, making manual hand grinders the most affordable way to achieve a good, consistent grind. 4. Learn the correct way to measure coffee The correct way to measure coffee is by weight, not volume. The way to get the best coffee flavor is to use the same amount of coffee per unit of water every time you brew. Measuring with a digital scale takes only a second, making it easier to better compare the amount of coffee and water used each time. Ideally, a ratio of 1:20 (i.e. one part coffee to 20 parts water, or about 7.5g of coffee to 150mL of water) will produce a fairly strong coffee, but some people go as high as 1:14 or as low as 1:30. It's up to you to decide which tastes best, and it's easier to do (and replicate) once you've eliminated all the guesswork. 5. Pre-filled coffee To pre-prime the coffee, insert the filter into the hopper and add the coffee grounds, then preheat approximately 50 ml or a quarter cup of water to 200 degrees Fahrenheit using a kettle, slowly pour the hot water over the grounds, making sure to thoroughly wet all of them. Let it sit for about 45 seconds before starting the coffee maker. 6. Brew at the right temperature The required brewing temperature for drip coffee is between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit. Many automatic coffee makers do not reach the optimal brewing temperature. To ensure that the coffee maker is getting hot enough, run it without any coffee in the hopper and measure the temperature with a thermometer. If you can, try to measure the temperature during the brewing process, as the water temperature will drop as it passes through the hopper and into the carafe below. 7. Use the right water The quality of the water used is another often overlooked aspect of brewing coffee. Using hard water, which is rich in minerals, will not bind well to the dissolved particles in the coffee, resulting in under-extraction of the coffee. Distilled water, on the other hand, can easily lead to over-extraction if there is more room to bind. For the average coffee drinker, lightly filtered clean and tasteless water is sufficient. 8. 6 tips for tasting good coffee The following few small attempts can help you taste more unique coffee flavors Try coffee beans of different roast degrees. Try beans from different regions. Beans from higher altitudes tend to have a stronger flavor. High-altitude coffees (like Ethiopian or Colombian beans) grown between 4,000 and 6,000 feet. Arabica beans often have sweet notes of fruit and chocolate. Try different ratios of coffee powder to water. Some people like a 1:4 ratio when drinking coffee, some prefer 1:3, and of course you can also choose a ratio of 1:7 or 1:8. Try changing the way you dilute your coffee before drinking it, maybe dilute it with more or less water before drinking it, or try diluting it with milk. Try adding some maple syrup, cinnamon, whipped cream, coconut milk, vanilla ice cream, and other delightful things. Although we are not professional coffee brewing experts, it is no problem to satisfy our taste buds as long as we master the above key points!
