According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, since 98% of caffeine is ingested through beverages, you are also replenishing water while consuming caffeine. Therefore, although caffeine is a diuretic, it will not really cause dehydration. However, coffee should be consumed in moderation. Drinking water is the gold standard for hydration.
