Rich and diverse ecological environment

Yunnan is located in the southwest of my country and has unique natural conditions. The altitude here is suitable for growing coffee trees, and the climate is warm and humid, with sufficient sunshine and rainfall. At the same time, the mountains are crisscrossed and the soil is fertile and diverse, which has cultivated different coffee varieties with different altitudes and soil types.

Dehong Prefecture in the northwest of Yunnan and Zhaotong City in the northeast of Yunnan mainly produce Arabica coffee beans. These places have high altitudes, moderate and stable temperatures, and large temperature differences at night. This climatic condition is very conducive to the growth of coffee trees and the development of fruits. In the southwest of Yunnan, Pu'er City and Lincang City mainly produce Robusta coffee beans. These places have relatively low altitudes and high temperatures, which are suitable for the cultivation of Robusta varieties.

Premium varieties for excellent taste

Yunnan coffee is widely praised for its unique flavor and taste. Arabica varieties usually have strong floral aromas, soft acidity and rich layers, especially coffee from Dehong Prefecture, which is known as the "Chinese peach". Robusta varieties have a strong aroma, mellow taste and strong bitterness, and are very popular when mixing espresso.

The reason why Yunnan coffee has such an excellent flavor is inseparable from its diverse and rich high-quality varieties. In addition to traditional Arabica and Robusta varieties, Yunnan has also cultivated some special varieties, such as Fengqing red fruit coffee and Mandheling coffee. These varieties are unique in taste and flavor, adding more charm to Yunnan coffee.

Strict production area management ensures quality


In order to ensure the high quality of Yunnan coffee, the production area has strictly managed the production process. First, during the cultivation stage, farmers need to follow the principles of organic farming and use pesticide-free and fertilizer-free methods for cultivation. Secondly, during the picking and processing process, only coffee berries with appropriate maturity are selected, and the beans are extracted through wet or dry processing.

In addition, there are specialized agencies throughout the supply chain to control product quality. From the purchasing station to the processing plant to the exporter, each link must undergo strict inspection and evaluation. Only products that meet the specified standards and pass the inspection can enter the market.

Going global


As Chinese consumers’ demand for high-quality coffee continues to grow and the domestic market’s recognition of Yunnan coffee increases, Yunnan coffee is gradually moving toward the international stage. More and more Yunnan coffee brands are beginning to enter overseas markets and have achieved impressive results in international competitions.

For example, in 2019, at the World Barista Championship, a Chinese contestant from Yunnan won third place with his outstanding performance and high-quality raw materials. This achievement not only added glory to the Chinese coffee industry, but also made more people have a deeper understanding of Yunnan coffee.
