Perfect steps for making hand-poured coffee

Hand pouring coffee is a unique method that provides a purer and richer coffee experience. Here are the steps to perfect hand pouring coffee.

Choose the right tools and materials

First of all, in order to make high-quality hand-brewed coffee, we need to prepare some necessary utensils and materials. This includes:

  • Pour-over kettle: Choose a pour-over kettle that is comfortable for you and easy to operate.
  • Filter Paper: Use high-quality, odorless, lint-free filter paper to filter the coffee grounds.
  • Bean grinder: Invest in a good quality grinder and adjust the grind size for different types of coffee beans.
  • Kettle: used to heat water and ensure that the water temperature is controlled between 90°C-96°C.
  • Scale and timer: used to accurately measure the ratio of coffee powder and water, and control the brewing time.
  • Fresh coffee beans: Choose coffee beans that are fresh and have been roasted recently.

Grinding beans and preparing filter paper

The second step is to grind the beans and prepare the filter paper. First, adjust the grinder settings according to the size of the hand brewer you are using and put the appropriate amount of coffee beans into the grinder. Then, turn on the power and start grinding. Remember that different types of coffee require different degrees of fineness, so adjust according to your personal taste.

At the same time, you can prepare the filter paper while waiting for the coffee powder to fall completely. Fold the filter paper into a suitable size and put it above the filter net inside the hand brewing pot.

Pre-soak

Next is the pre-soaking stage. Before pouring in the boiling water, wet the filter paper with a small amount of water to remove any impurities that may exist in it and strengthen the temperature difference between the glassware and the coffee powder to affect the temperature stability. Then, pour in an appropriate amount of hot water to fully wet the coffee powder and wait for about 30 seconds.

Brewing

Now it's time to brew the coffee. After pre-infusion is finished, slowly and evenly pour in the remaining hot water. Pour the water evenly into the center of the pour-over pot in a circular motion, making sure all the coffee grounds are wetted and soaked.

In addition, pay attention to controlling the flow rate and angle during the water injection process to avoid too fast or uneven extraction. If necessary, you can use a stirring stick to gently stir to promote better extraction.

Wait and dump

After pouring the water, please wait a few minutes for the coffee to be fully extracted. This time will vary depending on the hand-pour pot, filter paper and coffee beans you use.

The final step is to filter the fully extracted coffee through a paper filter and pour it into the cup. Please keep this process steady and slow to avoid coffee grounds entering the final coffee.

Enjoy delicious hand-poured coffee

Now, you have completed all the steps of making hand-poured coffee. Pour the poured coffee into the cup and enjoy the fragrant and rich taste of the hand-poured coffee!

In summary, making perfect hand-poured coffee requires preparing the right utensils and materials, and grinding, preparing filter paper, pre-soaking, brewing and filtering in the correct order. Only by mastering these skills and practicing continuously can you make hand-poured coffee that tastes great and is intoxicating.
