Coffee Origins, Varieties and Brewing Techniques

Coffee Origins, Varieties and Brewing Techniques

The origin of coffee

Coffee is a beverage made from coffee beans that originated in Africa. According to legend, in the 9th century AD, a shepherd named Kaldi found that his flock became unusually active after eating a kind of red berry. Curious, he tried the berry and found that it could keep people awake and energetic. This is the origin of coffee.

A wide variety of coffee

There are currently two main varieties in the world: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica is one of the most common and popular varieties, with characteristics such as fragrance, moderate acidity, and smooth taste. Robusta is more bitter and strong, and contains a higher caffeine content.

In addition to these two main varieties, there are other special or rare varieties such as Blue Mountain, Shatilla, etc. Each variety has a unique flavor and taste and is cultivated in different regions.

Brewing tips

The technique of brewing coffee can affect the taste and mouthfeel of the coffee. Here are some common brewing methods:

1. Drip method: This is one of the most common and simple brewing methods. Put the ground coffee powder into the filter paper, then pour in an appropriate amount of hot water and let the water slowly flow through the filter paper. This method can keep the coffee with a high acidity and light taste.

2. French Press: Also called a French press or filter pot. Put coarsely ground coffee into the pot, add an appropriate amount of boiling water, and then gently press down with the piston to allow the concentrate to pass through the filter into the cup. This method can produce a strong and oily coffee.

3. Espresso: Italians love strong and rich espresso, which is made using a specially designed, high-pressure, and low-temperature brewing machine.

Summarize

Whether it's the spread of coffee from Africa to the world or the different varieties and brewing techniques, coffee is a beloved beverage. Not only does it keep people awake and energized, it also has a rich variety of flavors and tastes. Whether you prefer Arabica or Robusta, drip or French press, coffee can bring you a unique experience.
