Coffee Knowledge Primer: The Difference Between Instant Coffee and Freshly Ground Coffee

Coffee has a rich and mellow taste and can refresh the mind, so more and more people like to drink coffee, especially urban white-collar workers who cannot live without coffee every day. However, most people do not know the difference between instant coffee and freshly ground coffee. Today, I will briefly talk about the difference between freshly ground coffee and instant coffee.

1. Different production processes

Instant coffee is made from roasted and ground coffee beans, high-pressure pulping and spray drying into powder particles. Vilavie Coffee also has the third generation of ultra-low temperature extraction "cold brew coffee". The natural coffee in the coffee shop is made from coffee beans after the fruit is picked from the coffee tree, which are physically processed by washing or drying to become raw beans, and then roasted.

2. The difference in aroma.

Freshly ground coffee is made from coffee beans, which are roasted directly from the roaster. Just like the snacks we bake out of the oven, they have plenty of original aroma, good nutrition retention, and great taste! The aroma of coffee beans is locked in the beans before they are ground into powder, and they taste good within 3 months after roasting. The shelf life is much shorter than that of instant coffee.

Instant coffee is usually produced by high-temperature steam, but high temperature will cause some volatile compounds in coffee to evaporate and be lost, especially caffeine and aroma. However, Vilavie's third-generation process of ultra-low temperature extraction "cold brew coffee" extracts coffee concentrate from coffee beans and then freezes it at -40℃ in a vacuum. Ultra-low temperature freezing can preserve the flavor and taste of coffee intact, and can also lock in the nutrients of coffee itself, so that the coffee produced is rich in aroma and pure in taste.

3. Different effects

Coffee does have a refreshing effect, but the effect of instant coffee is far inferior to that of freshly ground coffee. The most important effect of freshly ground coffee is "refreshing". If you drink a cup of coffee in the morning, you will definitely be full of energy, and the sleepiness of the morning will almost disappear completely, because the most important ingredient in it is caffeine. Caffeine will be absorbed by the stomach and intestines after entering the body, and then transported to various parts of the body through the blood, making the nerves in the central area excited, allowing you to concentrate more in a short period of time, and improving your brain's thinking and comprehension ability. However, instant coffee, because it is prepared, has a slightly worse refreshing effect.

4. Different convenience

Freshly ground coffee tastes better than instant coffee, but how many people can drink a cup of freshly ground coffee elegantly during the day? Especially today's white-collar workers are used to brewing a cup of instant coffee to refresh themselves. Moreover, with the advancement of technology, instant coffee nowadays, especially Vilavie's third-generation ultra-low temperature extraction "cold brew coffee", has become comparable to freshly ground coffee in taste. So freshly ground coffee is suitable for relaxing holidays, while instant coffee is suitable for busy working hours.
