Instant coffee makes you look older, one cup makes you look three years uglier

Instant coffee has a history of 77 years, but in these 77 years, the problem of instant coffee has become more and more serious. Do you still drink instant coffee today?

1. Instant coffee is “fake coffee”

"Instant coffee" is a type of coffee product, an industrial synthetic product, and cannot be considered coffee in the true sense.

Instant coffee is produced by extracting the active ingredients from roasted and ground coffee beans and then drying them. During this process, a large amount of nutrients and aromatic substances in the coffee beans are lost. Its nutrition, flavor and taste are no longer the same as directly roasted and ground coffee. Its production process is generally as follows:

Pretreatment → roasting → grinding → extraction → concentration → drying

After repeated high-temperature operations, the aroma of coffee has been basically lost. So how to make up for it? That's flavor. Manufacturers add flavors during the extraction, concentration or drying process to cover up the defects in taste.

2. Harmful to the body, risk of cancer

Instant coffee contains very little coffee, but more of it is various food additives to maintain the taste, confuse the taste, and achieve a refreshing effect. For example, non-dairy creamer has a very complex composition, mainly glucose syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil and various food additives, but none of these additives are good for human health.

Let's put it simply: when you drink a cup of instant coffee, you are accelerating the process of obesity and aging. Hydrogenated vegetable oil contains a lot of trans fatty acids, which will lower our good cholesterol, increase bad cholesterol, promote arteriosclerosis, induce thrombosis, and greatly increase the risk of heart disease.

But don't think that instant coffee only contains non-dairy creamer. There is another ingredient that is present in more or less quantities. It is not a food additive, but a very simple carcinogen - acrylamide.

In 2005, the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China issued a notice: acrylamide is a carcinogen, and the intake of children is 2 to 3 times that of adults. Instant coffee also contains carcinogens. Animal test results show that acrylamide is a possible carcinogen. Epidemiological observations of occupational exposure populations show that long-term low-dose exposure to acrylamide will cause symptoms such as drowsiness, mood and memory changes, hallucinations and tremors, accompanied by peripheral neuropathy (glove-like sensation, sweating and muscle weakness). Although the impact of acrylamide on human health needs further study, this issue should be of concern.

3. Coffee beans quality:

We know that more than 90% of the coffee beans on the market are grown from the following two types of coffee beans: Coffea Arabica and Caffea Robusta.

Generally, the flavor of Robusta beans is relatively poor, sour, and dull. The flavor produced by different regions and climates is not very different. Before roasting, it smells like raw peanuts. After roasting, the flavor is usually between "barley tea flavor" (medium-light roasting) and "rubber tire flavor" (dark roasting), which is difficult to show delicate flavor. Therefore, its price is only half of Arabica beans.

Due to cost reasons, instant coffee is of course made from Robusta coffee, which is mostly produced in Vietnam, Hainan and Yunnan in China, and some African countries. In addition, broken beans, bad beans, and poorly developed varieties are often roasted and ground without screening. Anyway, it is just to extract caffeine, and the lack of aroma can be adjusted by various flavors and additives, which results in the very poor quality of coffee beans used to make instant coffee.

Which coffees on the market are instant coffees? - Regardless of whether it is called aromatic or 100% coffee, as long as the ingredient list contains instant coffee, it is considered instant coffee.

What to drink if not instant coffee? Now is the time to say goodbye to the instant era and enjoy the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee!
