Coffee Bean Preparation Guide: The Secret to Perfect Coffee Enjoyment

Coffee Bean Selection

To make a mellow and delicious coffee, you first need to choose high-quality coffee beans. There are various coffee beans from different origins and varieties on the market, such as Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, etc. Each origin and variety has its own unique flavor characteristics, so you can choose according to your preferences.

When buying coffee beans, you can pay attention to the following points:

  • Freshness: Freshness is one of the most important factors affecting the taste of coffee. Try to buy fresh coffee beans that have not been stored or transported for a long time.
  • Roasting degree: Different roasting degrees will bring different taste and flavor characteristics. Light roasting usually has a more obvious fruity and floral taste, while dark roasting is more bitter and has a stronger caramel aroma.
  • Packaging method: In order to maintain the freshness of the coffee beans, you can choose vacuum-packed or sealed canned coffee beans when purchasing.

Grinding coffee beans

Grinding coffee beans into the right powder is one of the key steps in making aromatic coffee. Different brewing methods require coffee powder of different coarseness and fineness, so you can choose the appropriate grinding degree according to the brewing equipment you use.

The following are the coffee powder sizes corresponding to several common brewing equipment:

  • Drip: When using a drip brewing device, choose a medium to slightly fine grind.
  • French Press: The French Press requires coarser coffee powder to prevent too much grounds from entering the tea maker.
  • Espresso: The espresso machine requires very fine and uniform concentrated coffee, so you can choose a finer grinding method.

Correct brewing method

In addition to choosing high-quality coffee beans and the right degree of grinding, the correct brewing method is also the key to making mellow coffee. The following are some common brewing methods and their steps:

Drip Filter

1. Place the filter paper in the dripper and place the dripper on a cup or pot.

2. Add appropriate amount of coffee powder to the filter paper and spread it evenly.

3. After boiling the water, wait for a while to let its temperature drop to about 90℃.

4. Slowly pour in hot water to evenly wet the coffee grounds and keep the water level stable.

5. Wait for the process to complete and then enjoy the delicious drip coffee.

French Press

1. Pour the coarsely ground coffee into the French press and shake gently to level the surface.

2. Add an appropriate amount of hot water at a temperature of about 95°C to the mark on the top of the French press container, and stir quickly a few times to mix the coffee powder.

3. Cover the filter and piston and wait a few moments for the coffee to fully steep.

4. Slowly press down the piston to allow the filter to isolate the coffee grounds at the bottom of the pot and retain the concentrated coffee liquid above.

5. Pour the concentrate into a cup and drink.

Espresso

1. Grind the coffee powder to a suitable fineness and fill it evenly into the filter basket of the espresso machine.

2. Use appropriate pressure to force water through the filter basket to form a highly concentrated espresso liquid.

3. Add sugar, milk or other seasonings according to personal taste, stir well and you can enjoy delicious espresso.

Storage and preservation

In order to ensure that the flavor and taste of the food remain consistent, it is very important to store and preserve it correctly. Here are some common methods:

  • Airtight Container: Store coffee beans in an airtight container to avoid moisture and oxidation.
  • Store away from light: Coffee beans should be kept away from direct sunlight to prevent their flavor from being damaged.
  • Refrigerate or freeze: If you need to store the coffee beans for a long time, you can put them in a sealed bag and place them in the refrigerator or freezer.

By choosing high-quality coffee beans, the right grinding degree and the correct brewing method, as well as correctly storing and preserving it, you can make a cup of delicious and fragrant coffee. Whether you enjoy it at home or outside, you can perfectly enjoy this pleasant drink.
