Let’s talk about the three major categories of coffee. Do you only know mocha, latte and cappuccino?

For many people today, coffee is no longer just a drink.

No matter spring, summer, autumn or winter, getting up from bed in the morning and going to work on time seems like a rebellion against oneself.

To wake up completely from morning grumpiness, you must do two things: the first is to eat breakfast, and the second is to drink coffee. Food fills the stomach, and caffeine wakes up the sleepy nerves. Neither is enough. When the aroma of coffee enters the brain through the nose, it can be said that today's life has begun.

For urban beauties, it is a special pleasure to walk into a coffee shop filled with the aroma of coffee on a sunny afternoon and watch the passers-by coming and going through the transparent glass windows;

For those who stay up late to work overtime, every late night when they work alone, that cup of bitter black coffee is not only a magic weapon to refresh themselves, but also a sustenance for the helpless life.

With the improvement of living standards, coffee has become more and more popular.

When coffee shops appear more and more frequently in your field of vision, and you can only distinguish what mocha, latte and cappuccino are, let Dafu teach you the three major categories of coffee drinks!

Coffee drinks are mainly divided into espresso, black coffee and instant coffee.

Italian coffee

Italian coffee is the main coffee drink in 99.99% of coffee shops today. It is made with espresso made by a coffee machine as the base, and then different amounts of milk, cream, chocolate, etc. are added.

Common American coffee, cappuccino, latte, mocha, flat white, macchiato, etc. are all Italian coffee.

It is particularly important to note that American coffee does not refer to the coffee that Americans drink, nor was it invented by Americans. It is also made by adding hot water to espresso and belongs to the category of Italian coffee.

It is said that during World War II, American soldiers in Europe could not drink the drip coffee they drank in the United States, so European baristas mixed espresso with some hot water and gave it to them. They actually thought it tasted good, and thus American coffee came into being.

In simple terms, if the coffee you drink contains espresso, it is Italian coffee, regardless of whether it is made by a semi-automatic coffee machine or a fully automatic coffee machine.

Black Coffee

The so-called black coffee is different from the coffee made by coffee machine. It is made by steaming, brewing, etc., and generally no sugar or milk is added when drinking.

There are many names for black coffee. For example, Shanghai people are accustomed to calling it "clear coffee", Hong Kong people call it "vegetarian coffee", and some people often say it is "pure coffee". In fact, they are all describing this kind of coffee when it is drunk without adding sugar or milk.

In fact, for those who are not used to drinking black coffee, it is okay to taste its original flavor first, and then add a little sugar or milk in moderation, and slowly transition!

Black coffee can generally be divided into single origin coffee and blended coffee. Single origin coffee is coffee made from one type of beans, and blended coffee is coffee made from at least two types of beans blended together.

Among them, the "specialty coffee" that is often mentioned now refers to the coffee made from single-origin coffee beans with a score of 80 points or above, which is a single-origin coffee.

The coffee made with siphon pots, moka pots, hand-poured pots, French presses and other utensils, including drip coffee, is also considered black coffee.

instant coffee

I won’t say much about instant coffee. Apart from its convenience, it has no other advantages and is not recommended for drinking.

If you just want convenience, you can use drip coffee instead.

Kind tips:

The above three types of coffee are the most common. As for white coffee, Vietnamese coffee, flavored coffee, etc., they are not included. If you are interested, we will talk about them slowly.
