How to brew the perfect coffee from ground coffee beans

The Art of Brewing Perfect Coffee

Coffee is an intoxicating drink, and perfectly brewed coffee is even more intoxicating. In this article, we will explore how to brew coffee from ground coffee beans, through different brewing methods and techniques, to help you achieve a perfect cup of coffee with rich taste and aroma.

Choosing the right grinder

First of all, before we start brewing, we need to choose a suitable grinder. For hand-pour or drip brewing methods, it is recommended to use a manual grinder. This ensures fine adjustment of the grinding degree and avoids overheating and loss of flavor.

Get the right ratio and water temperature

Next, after preparing the necessary tools, we need to master the correct ratio and water temperature. Generally, it is recommended to use a ratio between 1:15 and 1:18 (i.e. 1 gram of coffee powder: 15 to 18 ml of water). At the same time, make sure to use a water temperature of about 93°C to 96°C, which can maximize the extraction of aroma and flavor from the coffee beans.

Choose the right brewing method

Different brewing methods will give coffee different tastes and flavors. Below we will introduce several common and easy-to-master brewing methods:

Drip type

Drip brewing is a simple and popular brewing method. First, place the filter on the filter paper and add the appropriate amount of ground coffee. Then, slowly pour in preheated water and leave it for about 30 seconds, then evenly pour in the remaining water until the rinse is complete. After the rinse is complete, pour the remaining water evenly at a continuous and steady speed and wait for the coffee to flow out through the filter.

French Press

The French press is a traditional and classic brewing tool. First, add a proper amount of well-ground coffee powder with a slightly coarse particle size (similar to sea salt) to the French press. Then, slowly pour in preheated water and leave for about 30 seconds, then evenly pour in the remaining water until the French press is full. After waiting for about 4 minutes of soaking time, slowly press the piston to allow the coffee to flow out through the filter.

Hand pouring

Pour over is a delicate and skillful brewing method. First, place the filter on the filter paper and add the appropriate amount of well-ground coffee powder with slightly finer particle size (similar to fine sand). Then, slowly pour in preheated water and leave it for about 30 seconds, then evenly pour in the remaining water until the rinse is complete. After the rinse is completed, pour water evenly into the middle at a continuous and steady speed and rotate it to ensure that the coffee bed is flat and evenly moistened. Finally, wait for the coffee to flow out through the filter.

Master the correct operating skills

No matter which brewing method you choose, you need to master the correct techniques when operating:

  • Use a container of appropriate size and shape to receive the brewed coffee.
  • When pouring water, maintain a steady speed and flow rate to avoid pouring too fast or too slow.
  • Adjust the brewing time according to the freshness and grind size of the coffee grounds to achieve the best taste.
  • Try to avoid leaving remaining coffee in the pot to prevent a bitter taste.

Enjoy the perfect cup of coffee

Finally, after brewing, pour the coffee into a pre-heated cup and enjoy it as soon as possible. A perfectly brewed cup of coffee should have a rich and balanced taste, fragrant and slightly acidic. You can add appropriate amount of milk or sugar to adjust the taste and sweetness according to your personal preference. But remember that a truly perfect cup of coffee should be able to show the flavor characteristics of the beans themselves.

By choosing the right beans, mastering the correct ratio and water temperature, choosing the one that suits your taste preferences and mastering the correct operating techniques, I believe you will be able to brew a cup of intoxicating perfect coffee. I wish you enjoy the fun of coffee brewing!
