"If you want to do your work well, you must first sharpen your tools." Before brewing coffee, let's first learn about the brewing tools.

I have always wanted to write about hand-brewed coffee. A few years ago, I was not very interested in coffee. How could something so bitter be addictive? For some special reasons, I tried coffee about 2 years ago. From Starbucks and Pacific Coffee to hand-brewed coffee, I completely changed my view of coffee and fell in love with it.

Let's get straight to the point. What is hand brewed coffee? Simply put, it is to use certain necessary tools to brew coffee powder to extract coffee. Of course, I'm not talking about instant coffee powder here. To be precise, it's the coffee powder ground from freshly roasted coffee beans. So what are these necessary tools?

Hand grinder

I believe many people will ask why I recommend the hand-cranked grinder? There are two main reasons for this. On the one hand, the price of the hand-cranked grinder is advantageous. On the other hand, it is mainly because we are still in the novice stage of hand brewing coffee. We can observe the coarseness of the coffee powder at different grinding degrees in an intuitive way. Here, I recommend the Japanese brand HARIO 2DTB grinder. In general, the grinding effect is good and it fully meets the needs of beginners.

Coffee filter cup drip filter

There are many kinds of coffee filter cups and drip filters. When you are a novice, I will directly recommend the HARIO V60. No. 01 is suitable for 1 to 2 servings, and No. 02 is suitable for 3 to 4 servings. Of course, it is best to buy the matching V60 filter paper. It is recommended to use bleached filter paper.

Narrow mouth pot

An essential tool for hand brewing coffee, a professional coffee pot with a narrow spout makes it easy to control the water flow and is a must-buy for beginners.

Electronic scales

Electronic scales are mainly used to weigh coffee powder and the amount of water needed for brewing. There is no need to use a special electronic coffee scale; an ordinary electronic scale with grams will do, accurate to the gram.

Timer

The timer is used to count the time points for brewing coffee powder, and can be replaced by a mobile phone.

Measuring cup

To be precise, the amount of water should be measured with a measuring cup, but the author believes that the difference is not big, and an electronic scale can be used directly instead.

Today I will briefly introduce the basic tools of hand brewed coffee. If you have any questions, you can leave a message to communicate.
